What is Hydrafacial?

An Hydrafacial is a skin care treatment used by a licensed dermatologist. This skin care treatment contains 4-5 steps:

  1. Ultrasonic Infusion: The process of extracting the skin with high frequency ultrasound for 15-20 seconds. These high frequency waves break down all the layers of the skin and stimulate blood circulation.
  2. Filler: The filler contains vitamins, peptides, and hyaluronic acid that will make your skin glow.
  3. Microdermabrasion: The skin is exfoliated with ceramic particles and the intense pulsing of the microdermabrasion machine will reveal smoother skin.
  4. Body exfoliation: The hands work on the back, arms and legs.

How does Hydrafacial Treatment work?

Hydrafacials are not a simple and short procedure. There is no need to do much prep work in order to go through it. You have to keep in mind that the process will be the same for everyone who undergoes it. So, once you arrive at the clinic, make sure to have hydration on you. You should try to avoid drinking alcohol, because it can lead to your face getting dehydrated. The next day after the procedure, use a retinol cream.

This should be used on your eye area and parts of your face that are not easily covered by your hands. After that, you should moisturize your skin immediately. Follow it up by washing your face with a foaming cleanser and a gentle cleanser, then patting it dry and apply a light lotion. If you don't follow this process, your skin might become irritated and may be red.

Hydrafacial Treatment FAQ

Are Hydrafacial Facial Treatments Safe? Most hydrathermal treatments are very safe. They don't work with lasers or anything that can cause burns or pain. You'll have no real discomfort, just a small itchy tingly red spot that goes away after about 2 hours. They usually leave your skin feeling very hydrated.

Does Hyaluronic Acid Work? Absolutely! Hyaluronic acid is also used in hydrogels, gels, and lotions. Hyaluronic acid can also work as a key ingredient in collagen and elastin boosters. Hyaluronic acid is super hydrating and moisturizing and it's great for protecting the skin from moisture loss. It holds about 1000 times its weight in water and hydrates your skin to plump, firm, and feel great. It is even used to strengthen the dermis.

Conclusion

The benefits of these treatments are clear- especially the hydrating benefits. They're a great option for anyone who prefers to put their time and money into self-care and even better that they're available at home. Images via tumblr.com and giphy.com.
